Matthew W. Johnson

Associate Attorney

Matt Johnson joined the Freeman Kevenides Law Firm in 2017. Prior to beginning at Freeman Kevenides, Matt practiced law for five years at one of Chicago’s preeminent medical malpractice defense litigation firms. His previous legal practice was concentrated in the areas of medical malpractice, health care, professional liability, and premises liability. Matt’s experience on the defense side of complex litigation gives him invaluable insight as to the mindset and tactics of opposing counsel as he advocates on behalf of his clients.

Matt is admitted to both the Illinois Bar and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He graduated from the DePaul University College of Law in 2012, earning both a Juris Doctor and an advanced certification in Health Law. Matt graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2009, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy.

Matt first started cycling when he began dating his wife, Rosemary, who educated him as to the virtues of life on two wheels. Matt is a year-round bicycle commuter, travelling to FK Law’s Chicago office from his home in Logan Square, where he lives with his wife and their pit bull, Sage. Outside of work, Matt is a lifelong martial artist and competitive fighter. He is the head Muay Thai instructor for TDC Mixed Martial Arts, one of the preeminent fight teams in the Midwest.
