Heather Owen is known for her empathy and compassion for all.

After graduating from Chicago Kent College of Law in 2008, she went on to practice in the innovative field of Animal Law.  She represented a class of clients against a dog food company and manufacturer, and advocated on behalf of individual clients and their pets in various disputes.

In 2008 Heather started One Tail at a Time, a dog rescue and community outreach group, geared towards placing dogs in danger of euthanasia and supporting animal owners across Chicago. During this endeavor Heather fought for tougher animal cruelty laws and safer regulations for companion animals and their owners.

In 2010 Heather joined the The Law Offices of James M. Freeman, P.C., now Freeman Kevenides Law Firm, LLC, as an attorney. She has since represented victims of negligence in many personal injury and bicycle law cases. Heather enjoys the opportunity to help a class of individuals that she feels deserves representation, and she has proven herself to be a valuable asset to the firm.

Ms. Owen has been an active cyclist for many years, and has commuted via bicycle since she began law school in 2005. Heather prefers her fixed gear for commuting, but also enjoys taking her cross and road bikes out in her free time. When she is not cycling Heather sits on the Board of Directors of a local dog rescue and spends time exploring the city with her dogs.
